Welcome to the Holiday’s!
The Holiday Letters are inspired by the lives and daily activities of Mr. and Mrs. Holiday. They spend their days either up at the lake, “driving in circles” (as they say), or at the family farm complete with red barns, a classic white farm house, and a barnyard with chickens and a few other animals. Their family is a bit of a “Brady Bunch” collection, and Mr. and Mrs. Holiday couldn’t be happier.
This all sounds rather leisurely, but spend any amount of time around the Holiday’s and it quickly becomes apparent that the Holiday’s aren’t quite what they seems! When Mrs. Holiday “goes up to the lake”, it’s because she’s running the Lakeside Motel and can most often be found cleaning rooms or folding sheets. Mr. Holiday is an over the road trucker, “driving in circles” anywhere between the Rockies and the Appalachian Mountains. And somehow, between the two of them they manage to run the family farm with organic cash crops, hogs, and a couple cows. Oh, and don’t forget raising the children! But they seem to have no idea they aren’t on holiday, like one of their many guests at the Lakeside motel. They have completely embraced the idea that “if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life”.
