Things to Do

Our lakefront pavilion with picnic tables, BBQ grills and fire pit, beach, and fishing dock are available to all of our guests. There is plenty of room to tie up your ski-boat or personal watercraft.

The Lakeside is located directly on Budd Lake, a 175-acre lake that boasts great fishing, swimming, speed boating and waterskiing. A large population of muskie, rock bass, pan fish, yellow perch, and walleye inhabit the lake.  A modern concrete launch ramp is located right around the corner. The lake is usually frozen by New Year’s Day and ice fishing is popular until mid-March to early April.

Clare County and surrounding areas are home to golf courses of all kinds, from mini-golf to championship links. You’ll find a list of local courses here courtesy of Google. Lakeside is near many trails: hiking, biking, snowmobiling and major ORV trails and parks are close by.

The famous Yoder’s Amish Quilt Auction and Craft Show is held the third weekend in May and Labor Day weekend every year (Friday and Saturday, no Sunday sales). Any time of year you may see Amish goods being sold by the wayside or at quaint Amish stores when you take our self-guided Amish Country or Fall Color tours.

Hunters young and old find game to be plentiful in the area. The Michigan DNR website has everything you need to know.

Ice fishing is not the only winter past-time; snowmobiling, downhill and cross-country skiing, tubing and snowboarding are major winter recreation activities in Clare County. There is also winter hiking and snowshoeing, ORV trails and ice golfing at the annual Frost Bite Open Golf Tournament on Budd Lake.

Our family looks forward to welcoming you to four seasons of fun in Clare County at the Lakeside Motel & Cottages on beautiful Budd Lake!
